With the fall coming to an end, PDS students are anticipating the unique joy that winter brings. From skiing to traveling to playing in the snow with friends and family, students are ready for the adventures that winter brings.
I love traveling to different countries during winter break. My family usually has dinners with extended family at Asian restaurants specializing in Peking duck, a famous Chinese dish with roasted duck. This winter, I plan on visiting family in China, and I’m excited to explore China during the winter, as I have only been there during the summer. I also have not seen distant relatives since 2020. My time will mainly be in Beijing and potentially visiting other parts of China that I have not been to before. But my favorite activity by far is playing in the snow with my brother on a day off from school.
Junior Ark Rana comments, “I love drinking hot chocolate during the winter, especially when it’s so cold outside. It tastes really good and warms me up.” He also shares how he enjoys traveling during winter break with his family. Junior Jasper Mackey has similar sentiments about the winter, remarking, “My family goes skiing during the winter, and it’s basically a family tradition at this point. We usually go to the Poconos and go to some resorts there.”
Other students have other ways of spending the winter, with Junior Evan Zhou saying, “The squash season starts during the winter, and I’m excited for the games coming up and proving myself to my team.”
Overall, PDS students have a lot of activities planned for the break. From vacationing to seeing family, students are excited for the end of these treacherous three weeks and the start of a new year.
