Students filled the Upper Gym for the Fall Pep Rally, a short but lively event celebrating the season’s sports. Organized by Zoo, the student-led group that runs all of our school’s athletic spirit events, the rally highlighted fall sport captains, upcoming games, and a few fun activities to kick off the semester.
Captains from each team introduced themselves and shared what was ahead for their seasons, encouraging students to come out and support them at future games. Between announcements, students competed in a balloon race, which had students cheering from the bleachers as teams from each grade tried to win. The competition brought out some friendly rivalry between grades, and the mix of cheering and laughter made it one of the most memorable parts of the rally.
The dance team also performed a quick routine, inspired by the choreography from the pop group Katseye’s GAP advertisement, keeping the energy high. PDS merch giveaways and upbeat music added to the atmosphere.
Senior Zoo leader Jessica Salguero said, “The Fall Pep Rally displayed our school’s ability to cheer on our teams and classmates.” She acknowledged that it was shorter than usual but didn’t see that as a downside. “Some may say it was a little short, but I say it’s better to keep it short and sweet,” she added.
The event set a positive tone for the rest of the year. The rally ended on a high note, with students leaving ready for the upcoming athletic events. “Overall, it was fun, and we hope to make the Winter Pep Rally even better than the fall,” Jessica said. In the end, the pep rally brought some energy to the day, giving students a quick break from their usual routines and a chance to show some support for PDS athletics.
