The Refurbished Boy’s Baseball Team

PDS Boys Baseball team and Coach Eric Schnepf are looking at the season ahead with an optimistic approach and a winning spirit.

In retrospect, some of last year’s less experienced players did not have the necessary knowledge of the sport to bring their team to the top. However, since then, each and every player has put in the work to advance the team as a whole. “We are really excited,” says junior Luke Haan. “It’s a tough schedule, but we are excited to face some new teams and we think we can hang with them.” The team ranges from newer to more veteran players, such as Haan and junior Dylan Powers who are stepping into this season as key players on the team. However, underclassmen players are out on the field just as much as their older teammates, including Freshmen Mason Roitburg and Matt Silverman who will both be pitching this year.

The team is competing in the Colonial Valley Conference, which is a new experience for them this year. “The program is expanding, and there are more players than last year,” says Powers. Coach Schnepf also emphasizes the expansion of the program and the relationships within the team. “Our big goals are always to improve our area of focus or things we value. The first thing being relationships, and the second continuing to build what we think is a healthy competitive culture.” He also brought attention to the development of players, stating that “I’m looking forward to seeing the guys from last year grow and develop on and off the field.” The new era of PDS Boys Baseball certainly is in good hands!
