The PDS Girls Varsity Basketball team has had a very successful season, showcasing skills that will be remembered for years to come. The team displayed talent, determination, and an unbreakable team spirit. The team chemistry is incredible, with each player supporting the others without fail. Junior Nica Martin commented, “I think we had a great group of girls this year and it was really fun being on the team!”
From the beginning of the season, the team set the tone for success. Led by a strong group of juniors and seniors, and supported by the dynamic mix of underclassmen, their high-scoring offensive plays and ability to dominate defensively made them a formidable opponent. Early on, they took on Steinert in the MCCC Showcase and beat them 33-27.
Junior shooting guard Sophia Barber reflected on the team’s progress and emphasized their determination toward improvement. “I think honestly, just keep on doing what we’re doing. We are already 5-4, which is way better than last year when we were 3-16,” said Barber. “It’s just about working hard and getting better every day at practice.”
Most recently, the team secured a win against North Brunswick High School with a final score of 39-35. As the team built on their momentum, they proved that their hard work and dedication were paying off on the court.
With each game, the team grew stronger and more confident, learning from each challenge they faced. They continue their season in the Non-Public A tournament, with their current standing at an impressive 13-9. Their chemistry on the court and effort in practices fueled their success, resulting in a memorable season for the whole team.
