Princeton Day School’s fall sports teams wrapped up an exciting season with strong performances across the board. The girls’ varsity tennis team won the sectional championships for the third time in the last four years, the cross-country team claimed the State Non Public Championship title for the first time in program history, and the boys varsity soccer team made it to the finals of sectionals. Each team showed hard work and dedication throughout the season.
The girls’ varsity tennis team had a season to remember. One of the senior captains, Vera Goliyad, reflected on the team’s success. “I loved the team this year. Practice and matches were so much fun, and the team always feels like a friend group,” she said. For her, winning sectionals was a highlight of the season, and she shared: “That day was amazing – we were all so happy.” The team also enjoyed preseason bonding activities, like their annual US Open Trip.
The boys’ varsity soccer team also had a strong season. Freshman Grant Burns appreciated the supportive atmosphere. He describes that “the seniors made sure everyone felt included, and everyone respected each other.” With a phenomenal record at the end of the season, the boys’ varsity soccer team wrapped up a season full of hard work and great memories.
The cross country team’s victory at the State Non-Public Championships added another big achievement to the fall season. Their hard work paid off with a title to celebrate. Junior Grayson McLaughlin was proud of how close the team was and their run to the sectional finals: “It felt great because we worked so hard for it. Our team is really close, like a brotherhood.”
Overall, with championship wins, sectional finals, and strong performances across all sports, the 2024 fall sports season was a big success.
