Health teacher Alana Asch joined the Princeton Day School community in 2021, working in the PE and health and wellness departments. She has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado, which she uses daily in her 10th-grade health classes.
Ms. Asch noted that her favorite part of working at PDS was the community. She remarked, “There’s so much support, community, and a sense of belonging that I really feel and understand.” She also added, “All the Peer Group retreats have been highlights,” and she enjoyed working with the Peer Group faculty and leaders.
In the future, Ms. Asch plans on growing her coaching business, The Better Coach, which focuses on youth sports performance and strength and conditioning. “My heart is really, really in coaching,” she said, and she hopes to be able to grow her business into a full-time job. She shared, “It’s a really scary thing for me to do, but it’s really exciting at the same time.” What sets her business apart from other coaching businesses is the mindset piece Ms. Asch implements in each of her students’ programs. “Confidence is a muscle,” she said. “It’s important to work on building it on and off the field.”
